Useful Information

If the list contains someone's signature, do not be surprised if the expression "signature illegible"appears the translation. As a translator I am not authorized to verify whose signature it is, and I even must not reproduce it graphically. If the signature is certified in the document, this certification will be translated and the document will work as well as in the original language (which is why the document must be bound together with the translation).

Sometimes there is illegible or poorly photocopied text in the text of the document (usually a certified copy). In this case, this passage will not be translated, even if I saw the original, where this portion is legible. A certified translation must agree with the document which it is bound to, and therefore this part will be replaced by an expression "text unreadable". So please when taking notarized copies, check them well.

If the document contains text in different languages (e.g. an English document includes a of a German notary), it is necessary that the document is translated also by a translator authorized for the second language. You will then have the document bound to two translations, each for the relevant language, relevant clause and relevant round stamp.

If the document contains national emblems or other symbols, logos and other graphic symbols, these will be described in words in the translation, but not reproduced. It is so right.

Original or Certified Copy?

Certified translation must be bound to the original or a certified copy of the document in its original language. If you want to keep the original, hand over a notarized copy for the translation. If you need a certified translation in several copies, you must deliver the same number of originals or certified (notarized) copies. I can have the certified copies done by a notary upon request.

The exception is a certified translation of personal documents (identity card, passport) – it is forbidden to make certified copies thereof in the Czech Republic. In such a situation, you can use an ordinary photocopy of your personal document with a declaration (this copy and this declaration must be translated together). This photocopy and the declaration can be made in my office.

Czech or Slovak Names

When a document containing Czech or Slovak names without diacritical marks (hooks and accents) is translated into Czech or Slovak, it is useful to show or spell these names to the translator as they are given in documents such as the passport or the birth certificate of the person. Without this information I cannot change them to their Czech format in the translation, which can later cause complications.

Superlegalization

Some authorities require superlegalization of the translation. You can have my translations superlegalized, of course. That means that the finished translation is yet confirmed by the Regional Court in Brno, Rooseveltova 648/16 (the nearest stop is Malinovského náměstí). It is in the competence of the department of experts and interpreters (in Czech: Oddělení znalců a tlumočníků). It is best to book an appointment in advance by phone. If necessary I can arrange that too.

Preparation for Wedding

When ordering a certified interpreting of a wedding ceremony, please supply the speech text or contact information to the registrar or to the appropriate Registry Office. Then the wedding really looks dignified as it should.
